
You see the colorful packets at restaurants and grocery aisles, but how do they treat your body in the long run? Here are a few things to keep in mind, when choosing a sweetener!
THE POPULARS:
Aspartame- is the most commonly used sweetener. This sweetener lasts in your body for a long time (36hrs.)
Saccharin- has been linked to cancer in laboratory rats, and overall been given a bad rap.
THE NATURALS:
Stevia - is a 0 calorie, natural sweetener that comes from a herb. This is a much better option than the more popular brands, simply because it is from a natural source.
Agave- Is natural and very sweet, but contains a small amount of calories. This is a syrup, and again, a better choice than the popular options.
