When it comes to fashion, I stick with the rule of thumb; high end, low end mix! It's not about having everything designer, or expensive. It's about investing in the RIGHT things, and saving on the others.
SPLURGE: HIGH-END
* Shoes- Investing in more expensive shoes, insures that you will have them for years to come. Quality is important, and you want to be sure they fit properly and are comfortable enough to walk in. Often times, more expensive shoes offer better materials that last longer, and fit more comfortably. This is not always the case, so use your own judgement.
* Classic Jewelry- A classic watch, stud earrings, and a tennis bracelet, are pieces that will remain in your wardrobe for years to come. Investing in pieces like these will give your overall look a more high-end feel.
* Jackets- Jackets can be worn with almost anything, and investing in a properly fitted blazer will give multiple outfits a more high-end feel.
SAVE: LOW-END
* T-Shirts- There is no need to spend a fortune on T-shirts. Buy multiple colors and textures at little boutiques, and pair with your investments pieces for a high-end look.
* Jeans- For some women, jeans are an investment piece. For myself, I can find jeans for a reasonable price at basic boutiques and popular mall shops. I never spend more than $50 for a pair of jeans.
* Statement Jewelry- It is not necessary to invest lots of money in trendy statement jewelry. Cocktail rings, and chunky jewelry can be found at virtually every mall shop for very little, and can make an outfit look fun and fresh.
* Trendy Items- Trends come and go, and thus, investing lots of money in temporary fashion trends will drain your bank account. Find the look for less, and rock it till it passes. You will be happy to know you didn't spend a fortune, yet you are still on trend.
