I have mentioned peptides before, but I am sure most of you may not even know what peptides are, and why they are essential for anti-aging in the skin. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, and amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins. Peptides can work as hormones and neurotransmitters.
There are four peptides you should look for in your face cream: acetyl hexapeptide-3, palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, palmitoyl oligopeptide and copper peptides.
These peptides aid in relaxing facial wrinkles, along with stimulating collagen production and hayluronic acid in the skins deepest layers. Copper specifically, aids in healing the skin, and is known for its ability to encourage healing in wounds.
Generally, peptides are only available in more expensive face creams, but the results are superior to those of any drug store brand cream. Peptides and retinoids can be used in conjunction for an even better results.
I personally LOVE Kate Somerville products, which contain both retinol and various peptides.
