Keep Your Face Young Looking At Any Age

In your 20's- Wash your face morning and night with a mild cleanser. A hyaluronic acid based serum should be used after cleansing, and a light moisturizer can be applied over the serum if needed. Start as young as possible wearing SPF 30 daily.

At night- be sure to use a Retinol product daily, and exfoliate 3x a week with a scrub. Follow with serum and a rich moisturizer.

Use a humidifier in your bedroom at night to keep your skin hydrated, soft, and smooth.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle by getting plenty of sleep, drinking plenty of water, exercising, and eating a healthy balanced diet. Avoid too much alcohol and smoking.

In your 30's- Follow the same basic steps as in your 20's, but invest in monthly facials. Ask your facialist to perform microdermabrasion treatments and chemical peels on your skin. Consider light botox in your 30's if you start to notice deeper lines

In your 40's- Follow the same basic steps as in your 20's and 30's, but consider adding additional treatments every six to twelve months. There are many new lasers available to resurface the skin. Ask your local skin clinic or plastic surgeon if they offer lasers like "Laser Genesis," or "Pearl Laser." These lasers offer deeper exfoliation than microdermabrasion or chemical peels. You can also consider various fillers and continued the use of botox to soften fine and wrinkles.

In your 50's and 60's+ - Maintain proper care of your skin and consider treatments like "Titan," or "Thermage" if you notice slightly sagging skin. These treatments can give you face lift like results for a fraction of the cost and down time.

Believe it or not, the hands are one of the top three ways someone can discover your real age. The eyes, and neck are among those three as well. Most women neglect this areas of their bodies! MUST HAVE FOR BRIGHTER, TIGHTER SKIN

I cannot stress how much I LOVE vitamin C. I take Vitamin C internally every day, but I also apply it externally on my skin everyday. Vitamin C literally lightens the skin, brightens the skin, and tightens the skin. Some of my friends have expressed to me that they DO NOT want lighter skin. I always remind them, that the lightening that vitamin C provides is more of an even skin tone. As a woman you always want to have smooth, clear, and flawless skin. Often times, sun spots or sun damage that you may not notice now, can pop up a in a few years and affect your skins even appearance. Vitamin C helps correct, and prevent such damage. This is the lightening we want!!! Vitamin C also tightens the skin by promoting collagen production. What more could a girly girl ask for?
Here are some of my favorite Vitamin C products:

Treatments: Performed once or twice a week. They are both amazing. The Microdelivery Peel by Philosophy is more of a manual vitamin C scrub with acids applied over it. The Murad C infusion home facial mixes moisture with C powder to create a very powerful Vitamin C clay mask.

Daily Vitamin C Serums: Philosophy "Save Me," and Md Skincare Hydra Pure Vitamin C serum are both very potent vitamin c serums. Improvements can be seen within weeks.

Philosopy Vitamin C Booster: A powdered form of potent vitamin C, specifically designed for the skin. It can be handmixed daily into a face or body moisturizer that you currently use. Don't try making this on your own by crushing vitamin C tablets. I know from experience, you will burn your skin. :)

Best plan for preventing wrinkles!

Your genes only attribute to 30% of how your skin ages. The rest of your skins aging is a direct result of your lifestyle. Here are a few lifestyle tips to prevent wrinkles.

1.Protect- I have said it before and I will say it again. Stay out of the sun, and away from the tanning salon. Protect your skin daily. Wear at least SPF 30 every day. I love Kiehl's Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50+.

2. Consume Antioxidants- Along with supplementing daily, you should eat and drink foods rich in antioxidants (green tea, blueberries, acai, and dark colored leafy greens.)

3. Don't Smoke- This should be a no brainer. It's not worth the damage it does to your body, especially your skin. Avoid smoking at ALL costs.

4. Frownies- Sleep on your back at night to avoid lines and wrinkles. This can also help reduce puffy eyes, and dark circles. Also, sleep with frownies on your trouble spots. Frownies can be found at any local high end beauty store, and they keep you from making expressions during sleep.

5. Retin-A- Get a prescription for Retin-A and work your way up to using it every night. Vitamin A increases cell turnover of the skin, which promotes collagen production.

6. Sunglasses- Sunglasses aren't just a fashion statement or a protection for your actual eyes. They are also important in preventing crows feet and other fine lines around the eyes. Wear sunglasses whenever you are outdoors in the daytime.

Chest: Be sure to use a proper neck cream on your neck and chest every night after you apply your face cream. Kate Somerville neck cream is a rich cream filled with anti-aging peptides, that keeps your neck and chest area firm. Keep your breasts perky without going under the knife by using firming serums. Try Rodial "Boob Job" ($150)

Arms: Keep your legs smooth and bronzed. I am a huge fan of laser hair removal, and Tria is the most effective option with the best price ($495.) I personally love Rodials bronzers, and self tanners. Being too tan can be aging, so keep it minimal.

What Are Peptides & How Do They Help The Skin?

I have mentioned peptides before, but I am sure most of you may not even know what peptides are, and why they are essential for anti-aging in the skin. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, and amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins. Peptides can work as hormones and neurotransmitters.

There are four peptides you should look for in your face cream: acetyl hexapeptide-3, palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, palmitoyl oligopeptide and copper peptides.

These peptides aid in relaxing facial wrinkles, along with stimulating collagen production and hayluronic acid in the skins deepest layers. Copper specifically, aids in healing the skin, and is known for its ability to encourage healing in wounds.

Generally, peptides are only available in more expensive face creams, but the results are superior to those of any drug store brand cream. Peptides and retinoids can be used in conjunction for an even better results.
I personally LOVE Kate Somerville products, which contain both retinol and various peptides.

Top Anti-Aging Tips

1. Passion For Protection- Become consistent and passionate about protecting your skin from the sun everyday. Choose a day moisturizer that contains antioxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E ect.,) and at least SPF 30 or higher. Be sure to apply at least a tablespoon for your face, neck and ear area.

2. Get Fatty- Essential fatty acids should be a part of your diet and daily supplementation. Include almonds and salmon into your diet, and take a Omega 3,6,9 supplement daily. Essential fatty acids help stop inflammation that can accelerate fine lines, sagging, and blotchiness.

3. Spray Throughout The Day- Keep an Evian or Rosewater spray in your purse to keep your skin hydrated whilst traveling, driving in your car, or throughout the day.

4. Control The Cortisol- When we stress out we produce cortisol. This hormone not only increases belly fat, it can slow down collagen production, cause breakouts, and make your skin look dull. Try taking 10 minutes a day to just relax and deep breathe. Make "Me" time a couple times a week, if you can, to just put a face mask on, get your nails down, or lay down for some peace and quiet. Every little bit helps!

5. Pair Potions- For optimum results with skin care products pair antioxidants and sunscreen in the A.M., and Retinol and Peptides at night. This will give you faster and more powerful results overall.

6. Quit The Impact- High impact exercise can weaken collagen and lead to sagging skin. Stick to cycling or elliptical, for firmer skin.

7. Cleanse With Care- Use a mild cleanser to avoid over-drying your skin.

8. Skip Sodium- Too much sodium can make your eyes and jawline puffy. Check cans and bottles to keep your sodium intake low, especially before bed-time.

9. Skip Sugar- The breakdown of sugars, called glycation, damages the collagen that keeps skin smooth and firm, according to prevention magazine. Stick to low-glycemic carbs, like whole grains; which are low in sugar. The body processes these low-glycemic carbs slowly to limit the loss of collagen.

10. Strength Train- Keep your body tones with strength training. Not only does strength training boost your metabolism, it is great for keeping your body looking young.

11. Antioxidant Alert- Keep your diet rich with antioxidants by adding Green Tea, Pomegranate, Acai, Resveratrol, and Vitamin C, to name a few.

Whats The Deal With Under-Eye Circles?

One of the main causes of dark circles under your eyes is rubbing provoked by allergies. Allergies can be induced by season changes or various foods. If your dark circles are because of allergies, use a very gentle cleanser and be sure to avoid rubbing your eyes.

The second main cause is genetics. If your parents suffer from dark circles, it is very possible you will also.

The third reason for dark circles, is visible veins as a result of thinning skin! This is why you may notice that dark circles increase with age. Use a little retinoid around the eye area to increase collagen production, and thicken the skin.

If your dark circles seem to be on top of the skin, as in pigmentation of the skin, you should use a skin lightening product. Hydroquinone, arbutin, or kojic acid are a few ingredients that can aid in lightening hyper-pigmentation.

Use a gentle eye cream daily, and tap it very gently into the eye area with your middle finger. Avoid tugging or pulling at the eye area. Avoid sleeping on your stomach, as this can increase blood pooling under the eyes. Try to sleep on your back, if at all possible.

Top Tips:
1. Take two green-tea bags and soak them in hot water. Put them in the freezer until they become very cool. Place them on your eyes and sit with them on for 15-20 minutes. The caffeine in the green-tea will help with dark circles around the eyes.

2. Look for an eye cream that also contains caffeine, and keep your eye cream in the fridge for added benefits.

3. Try a good concealer. Visit your local high-end makeup counter and ask for advice on concealing dark circles.

Look Younger With 4 Steps

1. Give your hair shine:
Shiny hair is a sign of youth. Consider getting a brazillian blowout treatment. This treatment seals the hair cuticle leaving it softer, with more shine. If the brazillian blowout it out of your price range, try an at home hair glaze or a intensive hydrating mask.

2. Whiten your teeth:
Keeping your teeth pearly white is a sure fire way to look younger. Try GoSmile 7 days whitening system. Avoid teas and red wine while using the system.

3. Grow lashes:
Long lashes are directly linked with youth. If your lashes are lacking length, try Latisse, or RevitaLash to aid in growing longer lashes.

4. Switch to liquid foundation:
Powder can sit in the fine lines and wrinkles on your face and make your skin look dull. Consider switching to a liquid foundation to give you a healthy glow!

3. Spend time with friends- When you are experiencing stress, make a lunch-date with a good friend. Try to laugh and have a good time.

LED Light Therapy

Image courtesy of Cobble San Fransisco

The newest wave in technology for anti-aging was discovered by NASA. It is called LED light therapy. You can purchase the machine for close to $300, and it comes in a variety of colors to deal with a range of skin concerns. LED’s (Light Emitting Diodes) penetrate deep into the dermis layer of the skin, energizing the cells, stimulating collagen and elastin, giving the skin back its youthful look.

The colors represent the wave length of the light, which directly affects how deep the skin is penetrated. Different skin concerns demand various wave lengths. For instance, if you want to treat acne, you would choose the blue light. The wave length is the shortest and only penetrates the pores, acting as a bacteria zapper. For the signs of aging, you would choose the red light, which has the longest wave length. This light hits the dermis and increases collagen production.
