Spring Clean Your Skincare Regime

As you move into the spring and summer months, it's important to change up your skincare regime slightly to allow for maximum results during the weather change. During the Spring and Summer months: Use a higher SPF- Generally, in the winter months I use anywhere from 18-30 SPF. As the summer rolls around, I use up to 50+. The sun is obviously much hotter in the spring and summer, and thus you are more likely to be effected by harmful UV rays. Plus, you are exposed to more rays in the spring and summer, because you are generally outside more often. Protect your skin from burns, aging, and sun spots by upping your dosage of SPF during these months.

Note: Protect your eyes and lips also. Find an eye cream and a lip balm with SPF in it for added protection. Reduce the use of retinols or Retin-A- You don't have to stop during the spring and summer months, but, you might want to consider cutting back to 3 times a week, as opposed to every night. Retinols thin your skin, and make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Even though you are using a higher SPF, it is important to cut back on over exfoliating the top layer of the skin. Switch to an oil free moisturizer- Unless you are extremely dry, you should consider a lighter moisturizer during the spring and summer months. Since it is hot, and you may be outside more often, your sweat glands will power into overdrive. If you wear something too rich, you might breakout. Keep in simple and light.

A Couple Other Tips:

H20- Make sure you stay extra hydrated in the coming months.

Vitamin C- Consume lots of Vitamin C, this will boost your own bodies ability to protect you from the suns harmful rays.
