Spring Clean Your Skincare Regime

As you move into the spring and summer months, it's important to change up your skincare regime slightly to allow for maximum results during the weather change. During the Spring and Summer months: Use a higher SPF- Generally, in the winter months I use anywhere from 18-30 SPF. As the summer rolls around, I use up to 50+. The sun is obviously much hotter in the spring and summer, and thus you are more likely to be effected by harmful UV rays. Plus, you are exposed to more rays in the spring and summer, because you are generally outside more often. Protect your skin from burns, aging, and sun spots by upping your dosage of SPF during these months.

Note: Protect your eyes and lips also. Find an eye cream and a lip balm with SPF in it for added protection. Reduce the use of retinols or Retin-A- You don't have to stop during the spring and summer months, but, you might want to consider cutting back to 3 times a week, as opposed to every night. Retinols thin your skin, and make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Even though you are using a higher SPF, it is important to cut back on over exfoliating the top layer of the skin. Switch to an oil free moisturizer- Unless you are extremely dry, you should consider a lighter moisturizer during the spring and summer months. Since it is hot, and you may be outside more often, your sweat glands will power into overdrive. If you wear something too rich, you might breakout. Keep in simple and light.

A Couple Other Tips:

H20- Make sure you stay extra hydrated in the coming months.

Vitamin C- Consume lots of Vitamin C, this will boost your own bodies ability to protect you from the suns harmful rays.

Makeup Optional Skin

Makeup optional skin is very important to women. It is important to first consider what constitues healthy and beautiful skin. Skin should be clear of blemishes and bumps. Pores should be small and barely noticeable. Tone should be clear and bright. Any redness, dryness, or capillaries should be non-existent. You should have balanced moisture levels; not too dry, not to oily. In real life, however, no one has skin without any flaws. You can get very close to having makeup optional skin, but some makeup is essential in being feminine. Even if your skin is perfect, as a woman, you simply should wear some form of makeup. There are plenty of options if makeup makes you break out, so that is no excuse. Before I get into makeup optional skin, I will first touch base on the basic makeup every women should wear.

Makeup Musts:
Women should wear some form of mascara, light powder or foundation, concealer on any spots, blush and gloss. This takes me ten minutes to apply in the morning, and it is very natural and subtle. I put more makeup when I got out at night or to an event. Even if your skin is perfectly clear, glowing, and smooth, every women can look more awake and healthy with a little mascara and blush. I choose mineral makeup, which helps my breakouts, while perfecting the look of my skin.
Product Pick: Jane Iredale pressed powder, Givency mascara, Bare Essentials blush, Lancome
lip gloss.

Skin Savers:
Remember that your skin will be beautiful if you invest in maintaining its needs through quality products. Investing in your skin is essential. If you choose to skimp on face products it will show. For best results, choose quality products.

Exfoliation is key in addressing breakouts, scarring, and pore size. You should be exfoliating at least once a week. I personally exfoliate every other day.
Product Pick: Kate Somerville exfolikate, Brazillian Peel, Dermalogica daily microfoliant.

Hydration is also key. I hydrate my skin through serums, moisturizers, and masks. I have a moisturizer for the morning along with a moisturizer at night. I hydrate with masks after I exfoliate at least once a week, and I wear sunscreen every single day.
Product Pick: Dermalogica multivitamin power recovery mask, Kate Somerville quench hydrating mask, Elemis pro-collagen moisturizer.

Even skin tone and clarity of the skin are important to having makeup-optional skin. Sun spots, freckling, and acne scars should be treated and lightened in order to create a flawless face.
You can lighten scars and spots through hydroquinone, and peels and prevent them with sunscreen.
Product Pick: Murad age spot and pigment lightening gel, Murad vitamin C infusion home facial kit, Jo Malone vitamin E Gel, Dermalogica solar defense booster spf30.

You can drink a pleasant tasting drink packed with acne fighters, wrinkle softeners, and skin firming ingredients. With distinct cocktails of vitamins specified for various concerns, you can't go wrong.

Try Borba which has four delicious flavored waters. Addresses skincare concerns including acne, aging and sagging skin, and dry dehydrated skin.

Beauty Secret From Japan!

I am so intrigued by beauty in other parts of the world. Different countries have different definitions of what it means to be beautiful, and it is always shocking when you experience that personally. When I was in Indonesia, I was amazed at the skincare line Nivea. They promoted products that make the skin whiter. I had only ever seen products that make the skin more tan. We love to look tan, especially here in California. In Asian countries, however, the women have no interest in being tan. They desire very white, porcelain skin. I personally think Asian women have the most beautiful skin, and I was very curious to find out their beauty secrets.

I recently discovered an Asian treatment and beauty secret that naturally whitens and lightens the skin, and heals acne. It has no side effects or down time. The women in Japan use it daily, and swear by it. It is affordable and I have tried it and love it too. Sounds great, right? Want to know what it is? The women in Japan use dried and UV sanitized Nightingale Droppings on their skin daily. The droppings are in a powdered form and they simply add it to a basic cleanser. Apparently, the organically fed birds have a natural enzyme in their droppings that makes the skin snow white, and gives acne a good fight. Are you brave enough to try it out?

LED Light Therapy

The newest wave in technology for anti-aging was discovered by NASA. It is called LED light therapy. You can purchase the machine for close to $300, and it comes in a variety of colors to deal with a range of skin concerns. LED’s (Light Emitting Diodes) penetrate deep into the dermis layer of the skin, energizing the cells, stimulating collagen and elastin, giving the skin back its youthful look.

The colors represent the wave length of the light, which directly affects how deep the skin is penetrated. Different skin concerns demand various wave lengths. For instance, if you want to treat acne, you would choose the blue light. The wave length is the shortest and only penetrates the pores, acting as a bacteria zapper. For the signs of aging, you would choose the red light, which has the longest wave length. This light hits the dermis and increases collagen production.
