Secrets to glowing skin

Glowing skin is a sign of youth and vitality, and the desire of virtually every woman.
You can achieve glowing skin with a few basic steps.

1. Exfoliate- Use a combination of physical and chemical exfoliation. Physical exfoliation is most commonly granules. Chemical is a type of acid that is applied to the skin and left on for ten to fifteen minutes. I use a grain once or twice and week, and a glycolic gel once a week.

2. Hydrate- Hydrate with a serum that contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid hydrates at a deeper level. It plumps and deeply hydrates the skin, leaving it looking glowy and healthy looking. You can use a moisturizer over your serum if needed.

3. Use retinol-
Retinol increases cell turnover in the skin and promotes collagen. Use a retinol every night before your moisturizer.

4. Protect- Stay out of the sun, and tanning salons. Protect your skin daily from the sun.

5. Supplement- Take Omega fatty acids, and collagen supplements. You can also take hyaluronic acid vitamins internally.

6. Avoid powders-
With the exception of Jane Iredale powder, all other powders leave the skin looking dull, and often contain Talic which irritates most skin types. Opt for a liquid foundation, or spot conceal if you can.

Keep Your Face Young Looking At Any Age

In your 20's- Wash your face morning and night with a mild cleanser. A hyaluronic acid based serum should be used after cleansing, and a light moisturizer can be applied over the serum if needed. Start as young as possible wearing SPF 30 daily.

At night- be sure to use a Retinol product daily, and exfoliate 3x a week with a scrub. Follow with serum and a rich moisturizer.

Use a humidifier in your bedroom at night to keep your skin hydrated, soft, and smooth.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle by getting plenty of sleep, drinking plenty of water, exercising, and eating a healthy balanced diet. Avoid too much alcohol and smoking.

In your 30's- Follow the same basic steps as in your 20's, but invest in monthly facials. Ask your facialist to perform microdermabrasion treatments and chemical peels on your skin. Consider light botox in your 30's if you start to notice deeper lines

In your 40's- Follow the same basic steps as in your 20's and 30's, but consider adding additional treatments every six to twelve months. There are many new lasers available to resurface the skin. Ask your local skin clinic or plastic surgeon if they offer lasers like "Laser Genesis," or "Pearl Laser." These lasers offer deeper exfoliation than microdermabrasion or chemical peels. You can also consider various fillers and continued the use of botox to soften fine and wrinkles.

In your 50's and 60's+ - Maintain proper care of your skin and consider treatments like "Titan," or "Thermage" if you notice slightly sagging skin. These treatments can give you face lift like results for a fraction of the cost and down time.

When To Save And Splurge On Skincare

When it comes to your skin, it is not always necessary to spend a fortune. A simple regime is really all you need, and a lot of items available at your local drugstore contain quality ingredients your skin will love.

Cleanser- When it comes to cleanser, choose a mild one. Cream cleansers are especially gentle, because they are generally free of detergents (sulfates). Look at the ingredient list and stay away from cleansers that contain SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE or LAURYL SULFATES. Try PURITY cream cleanser by Philosophy.

Moisturizer- Find a moisturizer that gives you the best bang for your buck. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid (which temporarily plumps out fine lines and wrinkles), antioxidants like green tea, vitamin C, and vitamin E, vitamin A or alpha hydroxy acids. For a day moisturizer, choose one than contains a broad spectrum SPF.

Treatment- Retinols are the best option for acne, and age prevention. Retinol smooths the texture and tone of the skin, and is essential for any proper skincare regime. Try RoC RETINOL CORREXION Deep Wrinkle Night Cream, which is available at most local drugstores. You can also try HELP ME by Philosophy, which is a fabulous product.

Eyes and Neck- The eyes, neck, and hands are the first to show the signs of aging, and are more delicate than the rest of the face. It isn't necessary to buy a neck cream if you are on a budget, you can simply use a pea size amount of your face cream on your neck. A gentle eye cream is important, so be sure to invest in one.

Bottom Line-- This day and age, it is easy to find proper skincare on a budget. It really comes down to preference. If you like a certain product and it works for you, stick with it, regardless of the price.
