TV WEEK: Eastbound & Down season three TV billboards...

Giant Eastbound and Down billboard
In a world of Calvin Klein underwear models and picture perfect Hollywood leading men it's a refreshing change to see billboards like these for the third season of Eastbound & Down (they certainly captured Daily Billboard's attention anyway).

TV WEEK: Awake series premiere billboards...

Giant Awake TV billboard
Rise and shine folks, it's time to start another exciting TV WEEK here at Daily Billboard and what better way to kick things off than with a new series called 'Awake'.
Awake series premiere TV billboard
Jason Isaacs (or Harry Potter's 'Lucius Malfoy' by another name) stars as police detective 'Michael Britten' who was involved in a car accident with his family where one of them died.
Awake NBC billboard
The twist is that every time he goes to sleep he switches between parallel realities, in one his wife died and his son lived and in the other, vice versa.
Awake TV billboard
However not only does he have to deal with this sci-fi premise, but he's also got crimes to solve too.
Awake TV billboard
Daily Billboard loves the ad campaign for the new show with the edges blurred around the faces of the cast.

Apparently Britten wears different colour rubber bands in each reality to help differentiate between the two, red in the world his wife is alive and green where his son survived, so it's nice to see that subtly replicated in the billboard design too.
Awake season 1 billboard
It's also gratifying to see the duality theme of the show integrated into the Awake logo with the slightly off kilter 'E'.
Awake NBC billboard
Interestingly the large landscape billboard (below) which was snapped along Sunset Boulevard on February 14 is normally reserved for new movies, which may indicate how much NBC wants their new fantasy crime drama to succeed.

Meanwhile the extra tall creative was photographed along Vine Street in Hollywood on February 21, whilst the standard landscape billboard at Pico and La Cienega Boulevards on February 24, 2012.

GCB series premiere TV billboards...

GCB Kristin Chenoweth billboard
Daily Billboard has to admit that when we first spied this billboard we thought it looked more like an ad for a strip club, rather than for a new ABC comedy drama (maybe it was the hot bubble gum pink or Kristin Chenoweth's bare legs that gave that impression).
GCB billboard ad
In fact it's actually the series premiere billboard for GCB, based on the book Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin.
GCB series premiere billboard
Daily Billboard loves the bedazzled show logo which really catches your eye, gleaming in gold and silver. It also has a nice glittery movement to it that helps with the effect.
GCB glittery logo billboard
It's especially clever how they've included the white sparkles on the artwork in case the sun isn't catching the shiny logo enough.
GCB TV billboard
In addition to the enhanced version, there's also a regular unadorned logo creative, which still stands out with that vibrant background colour.
GCB season 1 TV billboard
After her marriage ends in scandal a former high school 'mean girl' is forced to return to Dallas to face her mother and the women of her past.

They say payback is a bitch and it looks like these Good Christian Bitches (or Belles) are ready to give as good as they got, including Kristin Chenoweth's character who was bullied by her when she was younger and still holds a grudge.

These eye-catching TV billboards were snapped along Beverly Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on February 8, 2012.

DUO DAY: Life's Too Short TV billboards...

Life's Too Short HBO billboard
Given the diminutive star of HBO's new comedy show, Life's Too Short, the title seems a little on the nose, but with Ricky Gervais involved that shouldn't come as a surprise.
Life's Too Short TV billboard
Veteran actor Warwick Davis, of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Willow fame, stars as a fictionalized version of himself (a bit like Matt LeBlanc in Episodes) in this sitcom about the trials of a showbiz dwarf.

The series written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, from an idea by Warwick Davis, has already aired on the BBC in the UK.
Giant Life's Too Short billboard
The super-sized billboard for the HBO show was photographed looming large over L.A.'s Sunset Strip on February 8, whilst the standard sized special extension version was snapped at the corner of Melrose and La Brea Avenues on February 1, 2012.

The show's tongue-in-cheek title and eye-catching billboard creative certainly demand your attention at you pass by.

TV WEEK: 30 Rock, Rocks billboard...

30 Rock, rocks billboard
With all the exciting new shows it's easy to forget the successful existing hit series, like 30 Rock.

This year Alec Baldwin won his sixth consecutive Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance as 'Jack Donaghy' in the NBC comedy (in addition to all the other Golden Globe and Emmy Award wins), so he and the 30 Rock crew must be doing something right.

This vibrant billboard showcasing the main stars of the show (Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer) was snapped along Sunset Boulevard on September 8, 2011.

TV WEEK: Swamp People season three billboards...

Swamp People season 3 billboard
There's nothing like having someone who's tough, gritty and yet with oddly smoldering eyes to help get people excited about a show called Swamp People.

That's Troy Landry back for a third season which follows the exploits of these Cajun's in alligator hunting season in America's largest swampland.

It's such a dangerous pursuit that you'd expect him to be sporty a giant scar or eye-patch from a gator, rather than just a cap.

TV WEEK: Delocated season three billboard...

Delocated 3 special extension billboard
Simple, hilarious and breath-taking.

Yes, the billboard for the third season of Delocated literally made Daily Billboard gasp and laugh out loud with its clever simplicity (obviously a semi-naked man perched in his underwear atop the billboard helped immensely too).
Delocated season 3 TV billboard
Adult Swim certainly knows how to make a spectacle of their shows and has mastered the art of garnering people's attention with a witty visual.

Daily Billboard assumes that's Delocated's balaclava-wearing star and creator, Jon Glaser, sitting nonchalantly atop the billboard. From a distance he looks so real.

This billboard for the third season of the witness protection comedy was snapped in the usual Adult Swim billboard location along Sunset Boulevard on January 20, 2012.

TV WEEK: The Voice season two billboards...

The Voice season 2 billboard
They're back, and apparently the best voice will rise in season two of The Voice.

Daily Billboard can't help but feel that the four 'coaches' themselves are the real winners in this reality talent contest though, as the show has certainly rekindled the careers and put the spotlight back on Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton.
The Voice season 2 TV billboard
There's a lot of pointing and victory signs in this second season billboard as the coaches choose their singers, and it makes for an impactful ad, full of energy.

These confident billboards illustrate that NBC are prepared to give the likes of American Idol and The X Factor a run for their money in the search for the next big singing sensation.
The best Voice will rise billboard
The landscape ad versions were snapped along Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue on January 14, whilst the portrait version (which is also available as a bus shelter poster) was captured along Fairfax Avenue on a gloomier January 21, 2012.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to also check out the season one special extension billboard for The Voice.

TV WEEK: Mad Men falling man season five billboards...

Giant season 5 Mad Men billboard
Now here's an inspired and striking billboard to herald in the fifth season of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning 60's based drama Mad Men.
Mad Men season 5 billboard
These minimalist ads are so compelling and arresting, they don't even need the name of the show to attract attention.
Falling man Mad Men season 5 billboard
To regular viewers they immediately scream 'Mad Men' with the suited falling man imagery from the show's opening title sequence, alongside the black, white and red colour scheme and recognisable font for the series air date.
Mad Men season 5 AMC billboard
It really is a daring and dramatic campaign, but it stands to reason that a television series about a prestigious advertising agency would have some rather impressive ads themselves.

The giant billboard really does help give the creative maximum effect, as that's an awfully long way to fall.
Giant Mad Men season 5 billboard
As a bonus today, enjoy this more traditional season three billboard with the enigmatic 'Don Draper' looking down over Fountain Avenue at Highland Avenue on August 19, 2009.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to check out the season four billboard for Mad Men too.
Mad Men season 5 TV billboard
The standard size billboard was snapped along Sunset Boulevard at Crescent Heights Boulevard on January 17 and Pico Boulevard on January 25, whilst the super-sized version was captured on the side of the Andaz Hotel along Sunset Boulevard on January 20, 2012.
Mad Men 5 Falling man billboard
Imagine Daily Billboard's surprise when a second wave of teasers for the fifth season appeared on January 30, 2012.
Secrets are back Mad Men 5 billboard
According to these simple, but evocative copy ads, 'secrets, envy and adultery are back'. How cool would it be if there was a version simply saying 'Don Draper is back'.
Adultery is back Mad Men season 5 billboard
These new billboards were snapped at ad sites along Sunset Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood, replacing the 'falling man' creative.

This ad campaign is certainly shaping up to be an early contender for the television category of Best Advertising Billboard Awards.
